The magazine "Port Culinaire" has commissioned us to manufacture a special edition of the classic "Belle Epoque" with a hammer finish. The hammered handle surfaces glisten and gleam in the light like the sea in the sun...
The then head of Koch & Bergfeld's Design Office, Gustav Elsass (1881-1947), designed this splendid Art deco cutlery series, which was launched in 1930. Since March 2009, we are supplying this classic with the optional "hammer finish": a craftsman hammers minute dents into the handles.
The gleam is rendered by grinding, polishing and additional silver-plating. Every item is a one-off.
The catering trade will be especially interested to learn that this finish makes the cutlery extremely easy-care.
